The Paintings Told Me the Poems
Excerpts Matt Jones' Art book
Poems written by Matt inspired by each painting.
Paradise Girl
Stepping into paradise, knowing I’m already there
Opening up her key, reaching to feel the air.
In the island rhythm, the waves keep time
There is nowhere to go; right here is just fine
Living off the land, digging my feet in the warm sand
Embracing my flower child, that’s who I am
Entwined in the ribbons of love
Down from below; up from above
The oneness is apparent everywhere I look
To know right from wrong, I don’t need a book
I am the rock; I am the sea
I am the mountain; I am the tree
Blue Morph
To lose yourself in the colors smiles blooming from within,
Floating on the wings of love letting awareness begin
Celebrating the goddess of nature, plants are my fashion,
Whatever you do, always follow your passion
Energy expanding like the breath in my chest,
Colorful shapes falling all around me, my smile tells the rest
Calming purples and deep sea blue
Accents the orange sunsets that live within you
Blue morphs fluttering among the birds of paradise,
Being a reflection of nature sure feels nice
Crazy flowers bursting out of my eucalyptus hair,
Daring to be nature, I’ll take you there
Embrace
Spirits meet face to face
Your calm sweet breath tells me I’m in the right place
Place of trust in a sea of blue
’’m diving down inside of you
Holding my reflection I love what I see
A crazy diamond that shine’s within me
I see through you to get to me
Child of the universe, big bang theory
Lost in abstraction, our forms merge
Tides of emotion, I feel my love surge
Mind, body, spirit in celebration as one
There is no conflict, riding our wave to the sun
Something Fishy
Inquisitive look, Mona Lisa smile
I know something’s fishy; I’m going to ask in a while
Mysterious mama, wrapped in a scarf so green
Plants grow inside you, a jungle unseen
Camouflaged in the rhythm of life
When I give myself to the moment there is no strife
Plant the seed; grow the dream
Don’t be afraid to swim upstream
To slide through life, slippery as a trout
The path of least resistance, that’s what it’s all about
Music is the food that feeds my soul
There is no division; my love is whole
Ukulele Girl
Maui waui rising sweetness in the air,
Riding the wave of love, there’s plenty more to share
Ukulele lei girl strumming a tropical tune,
In rhythm with the waves, rocks and the moon
Mango melodies revealing the edge of time,
Oceanic boat rocking the cradle of my mind
Never alone with the blue moon on my side,
Always being pulled by the deep human tide
Sweet pineapple songs rolled in coconut chords,
Lost in the eternal chant, thanking the Lord
Love is melody, soul the beat
So funky, bring Al Green to his feet
Living the dream, becoming the song,
Laughing with Buddha all night long
Passion
Wild flames burning deep down inside
The passion I carry just won’t hide
The curve of her hip leads you into the fire
Like a well work path, heading for desire
Orange moons, yellow bursting stars
The big bang theory, that’s what you are
Leaving earthbound feelings behind
There is no fear, just a channel for the divine
Huge fires start from a tiny spark
Burning the light into the dark
Burning my ego, smoke rising from my old self
As the haze clears away, I’m rich in my new discovered wealth
Erupting from love, volcanoes in my heart
Goddess of creation, right from the start
